Marathon Must-Haves {giveaway}

Staring this week, I’m in full-on marathon countdown (I can count the number of days on 1 hand)!  I’ve started watching the weather, planning what to wear, and stocking up on all of my marathon must-haves.  {i’m excited}

Over the years, and as I’ve become a “smarter” runner (no more empty stomach runs or 90’s cotton for me), I’ve learned what works and doesn’t work.  And through a lot (I mean, a lot) of trail & error, I’ve found my favorites…

The best part about all of my favorite things?  One LUCKY winner will win ALL of my Marathon Must-Haves (shown below)

giveaway

utopia thermal hoodie: not only is this piece stylish, fitted, and technical, it’s cozy!  I’m rarely cold during a run, but as soon as I finish (and I really start to sweat), I get the chills – I’ll be wearing my (favorite) hoodie post-race.

KT Tape: ever since the (unfateful) day I stumbled upon Plantar Fasciitus, I’ve been a huge fan of KT Tape.  One of my favorite things about it (besides magical powers & healing) – a huge assortment of the fun colors {think pink}

nuun: i live on nuun (strawberry lemonade, please).  It’s the perfect marathon/training run go-to.  Since it’s mixed with water (and you can half the tabs), it’s easy on my stomach but gives me the energy boost I need.

hat: i don’t like the sun in my eyes, or sweat for that matter.  I rarely race without a hat – it’s the perfect sun & sweat protector.

hand-held water bottle: it’s nearly impossible for me to run 22 mile training runs without water.  Enter: the hand-held water bottle.  Small, sleek, and barely noticeable – I don’t leave home without it.

mio: make it yours! add a few drops to your water – post-run-  for a quick & easy drink.

body glide: i don’t know about you, but I’ve been the victim of sports bra chafe and it is not fun!  body glide is multi-purpose and does the trick (apply wherever your heart – or chaffing – desires).

nathan reflective running pak: it’s an easy and lightweight waist pak. The Nathan Reflective Belt is an all-in-one belt that keeps runners and their valuables safe.

gu chomps: i’ve never been able to hold-down gu gels – but gu chomps have been a lifesaver (and changed my thoughts about long runs/nutrition).  They are tasty, easy to chew and give me the energy I need on my long runs.

clif bars (not pictured): mini clif bars are the perfect post-race snack.  They are full of organic ingredients, engery and come in delicious flavors.  Yes, I’d like a Coconut Chocolate  Chip bar – yum!

Team Sparkle Skirt {giveaway}

I wasn’t a running-skirt-believer until I met Team Sparkle.

But thanks to this little race called Hood to Coast, I had the pleasure of meeting and spending 28+ hours with Kelly & Carrie – 2 of 3 masterminds behind the brand.

Weeks before the race, our team {After-NUUN Delight} spent hours tweeting, texting and facebooking all in the name of Nuun’s Hood to Coast team (we were hashing out our theme, costume, and van design).  Once I realized that Kelly & Carrie owned this really cool company {with really sparkley skirts}, I gently hinted strongly suggested that it would be really cool to rock the sparkle for 200 miles.  After-NUUN Delight, decked out in a rainbow Team Sparkle skirts, took Hood to Coast by storm – we were a huge hit and the source of a little skirt envy.

Since Hood to Coast, I’ve been obsessed with Team Sparkle skirts – so much so, that I wore the traveling skirt to run the Army Ten Miler!  My mom rocked one, too – and we both ran speedy PR’s.

What I love most about the Team Sparkle skirts {besides the color and sparkle} is that you can wear them over your regular running clothes (think: your favorite shorts, briefs, boy shorts, etc.).

Team Sparkle shirts are fun.  They make you feel really fast and cool (I ran PR’s while wearing the skirt, on 4 different occasions – 3x Hood to Coast and 1x Army 10 Miler).  Bystanders and runners compliment you.  The skirts are a huge hit.  They motivate you more than you can imagine.  I love Team Sparkle.

Endurasoak {giveaway}

Run Fast. Recover Faster.

As I started to increase my mileage while training for my first (and only) marathon, my body often felt tired and fatigued. I would walk in the door after a 22 mile run, feeling excited {it was the most I had ever run} and exhausted {my body had never worked that hard or long}. It took a lot of trail &a; error for me to figure out the right post-run mix for my body.

I’ve always been a believer of epsom salt – and probably take more epsom salt baths than the average person. If you promise to take away may aches, soothe sore muscles, relieve stress and improve oxygen use, I’m going to love you and take advantage of you. {I’m just being honest}

It might be a bit dramatic to say that Endurasoak changed my post-run life, but I’m all for dramatic {and the truth}. After every long run, I would limp walk in my front door, grab a Pelegrino and immediately start an Endurasoak bath. It’s my recovery secret potion – the perfect combination of bath-salt-meets-rosemary-and-peppermint deliciousness. Endurasoak helps my body recover faster and allows me to run sooner.

According to the website, Endurasoak is a mineral bath that promotes post-workout recovery and reduces pain from training related injuries.

  • Reduce inflammation
  • Combat muscle fatigue
  • Relieve pain and muscle cramps

It’s just what my body needs after a long run (or stressful day).
{bye-bye epsom salt, HEELLLOOO Endurasoak}

In honor of fall marathon season, I’m hosting an Endurasoak giveaway. Two readers will win one bag of Endurasoak each.

Favorite Snack: Wasa Crispbread {Giveaway}

I’ve been a Wasa Crispbread fan for years, so I was excited to sample three flavors that I had never tried: Fiber, Sesame and Whole Grain. If you aren’t familiar with Wasa, it’s a health food that doesn’t taste like a health food. What I love most about Wasa is the crunchy taste (think pretzel) but without all of the calories (think bagel, english muffin). For breakfast, I eat my Wasa like a bagel – with whipped cream cheese, apple butter or honey. For a snack, I eat my Wasa with hummus, veggies, or cheese. I’ve also been know to substitute or add Wasa to my breakfast, lunch, snack or dinner routine (it’s that good!).To all of my triathletes: I took the Wasa Crispbreads to my group-triathlonhouse this past weekend and it was a huge hit post-race!

For the love of water & nuun {giveaway}

It’s no surprise that I love water. I’m a self-admitted waterholic, drink way more than 8x8oz of water/day, and think it’s bizarre when people order diet coke instead of water.
{only kidding about that last one}

And if you’ve been within a 1,000-mile radius of my blog since June, it’s also no surprise that I love nuun. I dream about strawberry lemonade, citrus fruit & lemon tea. I blog, tweet & Facebook about nuun, how delicious my favorite flavors of nuun are, and how excited I am about team nuun & running Hood to Coast.
{BJ would say that I am nuun-crazed and I think he might be right….}

Well, it’s finally RACE WEEK! So, in honor of Hood to Coast, Team nuun & my undying love for water, I’m hosting a {water & nuun} inspired giveaway.

Each winner (2) will receive:
~18oz. Klean Kanteen water bottle
~2 tubes of nuun
