Hydration, made {Simple}

It’s HOT in DC, and that means most of my runs include a water bottle of sorts.  I’m a big fan of, and use, everything from a CamelBak to Nathan Hydration Bottle depending on the length of my run and the temperature.

A few weeks back my dear friend Lisa (Run Wiki) gave me a {Simple Hydration} bottle.  With temperatures in the high 90’s (and even reaching 106 degrees), this was the perfect week to take it for a (running) spin.  I was pleasantly surprised at the outcome!

For starters, I love The Hook – which allows the bottle to rest on a waistband, sports bra, or race belt.  The bottle fits perfectly in my hand (with the help of the hook) and I’m able to run effortlessly.  It’s so lightweight that I forget that I’m holding a water bottle.

{Simple Hydration} also features a contoured design for a nice, secure fit on the center of the lower back or waist, a BPA Free bottle, and it’s proudly made in the USA

Sports Bra: I love this one!  {Simple Hydration} fits perfectly in my sports bra and doesn’t bounce around or move.  I tried this with two different styles of sports bras and each style worked.  Even with a full water bottle, it doesn’t feel heavy.

Hand Held: I really liked the way {Simple Hydration} fit into my hand.  It’s so lightweight that I forget I’m holding anything.  The hook helps relive “stress” associated with holding a bottle, so my hand/forearm never wears out or gets fatigued.

Waist Band: I love the concept of a water bottle in my shorts (without wearing a race belt), but this didn’t quite work for me.  It may have been a function of the shorts that I was wearing, so I encourage you to try it with different styles and fits.  If you’re walking or run-walk, {Simple Hydration} will work like a dream.

Final Thoughts: {Simple Hydration} is 13oz. so I suggest using the bottle on a shorter run or on race day – but if you’re headed out for a 22 miler during cooler months, this bottle will do the trick.  {Simple Hydration} is the perfect lightweight water bottle option. Overall, I’m really happy with the product – so much so that it’s become my go-to water bottle!

  1. I love how you can put it in the back of your sports bra! That is pretty awesome!

  2. Love how you use it in your sports bra! I am a huge fan of all things simple, this fits the bill. xoxo

  3. Well this is very interesting. I love the shape of the bottle and think that would work great! I’ve never carried a water bottle with me before and now that I am running longer runs I am finding it necessary. I just might have to get one of these. Thanks for the review and awesome pics.

  4. This is a great review! I have to admit I tried the bottle and it just didn’t work for me -. I wasnt comfortable with it in my shorts or crops – but I never ever thought of putting it in my sports bra! I will have to try that 🙂

  5. this is so neat!

  6. I can’t believe it doesn’t bounce out of your sports bra…that’s a great idea!

  7. Looking into getting a hand held myself soon. The hubby and I are moving next month where I will no longer have access to the Chicago lakefront and it’s plethora of water fountains every half mile. There are so many choices out there and I don’t want to spend $100 on random ones that don’t work, but the clippy one sounds perfect!

  8. Run Wiki also gave me one of these and I’m ashamed to admit I haven’t tried it yet…partly because I haven’t been running all that long. I like the idea of putting it in your sports bra – with some ice it could provide a nice little cooling effect, too!

  9. I have seen a couple of bloggers posting about simply hydration recently. It seems like a pretty cool concept. I am not sure how I would like it tucked into my shorts though. Was the bottle hard to pull out of the back of your sports bra while running or did you stop for it?

    • It wasn’t hard at all to pull out of my sports bra – the opposite, in fact. I might not run a 1 mile race with it, but it was perfect for my mid-week, everyday type run 🙂

  10. I always choose a handheld over any sort of belt, so I know would not like to have it in my shorts. Also, in your hand it’s easy to sip as you go. Any issues of it being a pain to reach over your shoulder to pull it out and then try to navigate it back in while running?

I’m not all that coordinated! 🙂

    • NO issues for me. I felt like it was really easy to “grab-n-go”. Didn’t stop running, took a sip, and then put it back.

  11. That is very cool!

  12. That’s awesome that you can wear it in your sports bra! Is it easy to grab and put back while running?

  13. Wow – I’ve seen this in the shorts but not the sports bra. What a great idea!

  14. On my long runs I use my Nathan’s vest and love it. I almost can’t feel it.

  15. That’s a great idea! I can’t imagine running with a water bottle in my shorts (and I certainly don’t wear the bras), but the handheld seems like a really nice design. I usually just handhold a bike water bottle but have been looking for something else.

    • You should definitely give it a try! I’ve done the handhold water bottle – and Simple Hydration is much better (more lightweight and easier to carry)!
